Design Brief
The pavilion is composed of eleven diagonal concrete arches, each 7.22 meters in span, supporting lightweight steel structures and roofing panels that are opaque, transparent, or translucent depending on programmatic requirements. Eight interior brackets and four exterior ones define the space, creating a balance between intimacy and openness. The geometry, based on 45-degree axes, references Mesoamerican fretwork motifs, alluding to Mexican design and craftsmanship.
Functionally, this configuration orients the roof surfaces southward, optimizing solar capture through photovoltaic panels and enabling rainwater collection directed toward gardens and wetlands. The pavilion features a total roofed area of 1,462 m² and houses two 267 m² halls—one for events and the other for temporary exhibitions. A central vestibule organizes circulation and serves as the core connector.
Surrounded by vegetation and public space, the pavilion visually and physically integrates with its context. Flanking the pavilion, orchidariums are relocated into polycarbonate structures that accompany visitors along the path, reinforcing the project’s identity. A staircase on the southern edge leads to a natural amphitheater, seamlessly blending architecture and landscape.
