Design Brief
Located within the El Jacal Ranch development, this countryside residence sits on a one-hectare lot and comprises 1,200 m² of built area. Surrounded by preserved wild landscape, the design draws inspiration from the barn house typology, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens to achieve a timeless aesthetic in harmony with its natural surroundings.
The residence is composed of three primary volumes with gabled roofs. Two of these house the main bedrooms, providing both spatial hierarchy and privacy, while the central volume contains the social areas—living room, dining room, and bar—framed by large windows on both sides that open to the landscape and flood the interiors with natural light. These spaces are connected by a glazed corridor that reinforces the connection between interior and exterior.
The program also includes four secondary bedrooms, a family room, and a main terrace with an outdoor kitchen. The material palette—wood, natural stone, stucco, black clay tile, steel, glass, and marble—balances rustic character with elegance and warmth.
