TAHR confirms its participation in the Florence Hills competition
April, 2025

TAHR is proud to announce its participation in the international “Florence Hills” design competition, a two-phase contest aimed at the architectural revitalization of Podere Santa Margherita, a historic rural estate nestled in the Chianti region of Tuscany. Organized by Florence Hills Srl and hosted on the Terraviva platform, the competition calls for visionary proposals that combine conservation and contemporary design to reimagine the potential of traditional Tuscan farmhouses as luxury residential retreats.
Located in the heart of Tuscany between Florence and Siena, the project site features a remarkable Casa Leopoldina dating back to the 19th century, as well as a rustic annex known as The Rustico, both set amidst three hectares of vineyards and olive groves. Though steeped in architectural and agricultural heritage, the complex has long remained abandoned and nowcalls for a careful and forward-thinking intervention.

TAHR's proposal will respond to the challenge of adaptive reuse through a design that respects the authenticity of the site while introducing refined elements of contemporary luxury living. Guided by principles of sartorial restoration, our approach will focus on preserving the cultural and material identity of the estate, while transforming it into a highly exclusive residence, to be privately inhabited and selectively offered to discerning global guests.
The project requires a holistic design vision—one that integrates architecture, interior design, and landscape with particular sensitivity to user experience. From restoring the Manor House and Rustico to creating a new outdoor realm complete with a swimming pool and curated gardens, the goal is to achieve a seamless dialogue between past and present, nature and design, memory and innovation.
TAHR is honored to contribute to this ambitious initiative, joining other international firms in redefining ways of living in the Tuscan countryside through architectural excellence, contextual awareness, and design precision. We look forward to engaging with the unique character of Chianti and to envisioning a future for Podere Santa Margherita that honors its legacy while offering new life.
